Echelon’s ‘lite’ learning management system (LMS) enables clients to distribute content globally via a hosted site or by integrating the content onto their intranet and to track its usage. It offers the following benefits:
Our solution is delivered using standard Web technology. This allows us to run and maintain the system for you. All your learners require is the standard browser they use to surf the web. This allows us to get the system up-and-running very quickly without any of the IT concerns or costs of other systems.
All the learning material on the site is in bite-sized modules to a consistent format. These look good both on screen and when printed, ensuring the learning is highly portable.
This material can be sourced from our library of 2,000 solutions, written from scratch by one of our experienced authors, or adapted from your existing content.
Clients have access to global monitoring. When a learner first enters our system they complete a short questionnaire, so that thereafter all their actions can be tracked. If they download and complete a module of learning then they may be asked to evaluate it. This allows for very powerful centralised reporting on the uptake and effectiveness of the site in terms of ROI. It also informs clients on how to continually improve the site in-line with learners’ needs.
Along with the centralised reporting the usage tracking also builds into a learning log for the individual learner. These logs can be particularly useful to evidence CPD or record information for corporate regulatory purposes.
All of the bite-sized modules can easily be found in a hierarchical filing system based around, say, your training courses or core-competences. There is also a keyword search system allowing the learner to jump directly to the section they need. Each module is also prefaced with a preview detailing exactly what the learner may expect allowing them to quickly choose the most appropriate learning.
The system also allows for on-line testing. Once a learner had used a module of learning they can be asked to complete a validation to ensure they have fully understood the learning.
Echelon’s LMS is written in c# for the Microsoft’s .NET Framework to construct standards compliant websites. Echelon usually host and maintain these websites on dedicated Windows 2000 Servers running Microsoft Internet Information Server. Access to the sites is restricted via an email address and password logon. Usage is recorded into a database and analysed in real time to produce a series of online graph based reports showing usage trends. For the client means that the system is user friendly and can be aligned with virtually any existing in-house system.
